đ With So Much Gratitude đ
Before anything elseâthank you. Meeting all of you, our new and wonderful Sirens, has been the absolute highlight of this year. Watching someone go from touching a pole for the very first time to confidently stepping on stage at a showcase? That never gets old. Ever. Itâs honestly magic.
What you might not see is how much
you give back to us. The best part of my day is waking up and seeing your postsâyour videos, your wins, your âI canât believe I just did thatâ moments. Iâm beyond grateful for every tag, every share, every ounce of trust you put into this space. This studio exists because of you.
In January, I took a leap of faith and signed the lease with a small but mighty group of students from my home studio. We got the keys February 1st, and Captain Mike and I had 28 days to build the entire studio before opening on March 1. Less than a year later, I walk into a space full of laughter, wins, struggles, friendships, new faces, collaboration, creativity, energy, and joyâand it still blows my mind.
Weâve celebrated together with two showcasesâthe Grand Opening Showcase and our September Showcaseâplus dozens of events that turned a studio into a true community. The entire staff and I are so grateful, and weâre genuinely excited for the new friends, new Sirens, and new magic still to come. đЎâ¨

đď¸ Record Everything (Yes, Even the Messy Stuff)
If youâre training pole (or aerial), recording yourself isnât optionalâitâs part of learning. This isnât about vanity or curating a highlight reel. Itâs about skill development. When youâre upside down, gripping for dear life, or chasing a musical moment in freestyle, you simply cannot see what youâre actually doing. Video fills in that gap.
Recording shows you what an audience sees. Lines, transitions, timing, and flow all become clearer once youâre off the pole and watching it back. That transition you thought was smooth? Maybe itâs rushed. That move you felt shaky in? It might look controlled and strong. Video has a funny way of humbling you
and boosting your confidence at the same time.
Itâs also one of the best ways to track progress. Training can feel slowâespecially when youâre working on strength-heavy skills or flow that doesnât come naturally. Having old clips to revisit proves, very clearly, that you are not stuck. Youâre just mid-process. Watching a move that once felt impossible become casual is incredibly motivating â¨
And noâwatching your own videos is not conceited. Athletes do it. Dancers do it. Professionals do it. This is how skills improve.
Record Your Freestyles
Freestyle is a skill, not a personality trait.
It takes practice, repetition, and feedback just like any other part of pole. Recording your freestyles helps you see how you move through space, how you respond to music, and whether your transitions actually connect or just⌠exist.
When you watch freestyles back, you start noticing patternsâwhat you default to, where you rush, where you stall, and what movements feel authentic versus forced. Even better, youâll often find little moments of magic you didnât realize you created. Those clips become future choreography ideas and proof that your movement vocabulary is growing đ
Record New Moves (Even Before Theyâre âGoodâ)
Anytime you learn a new pole or aerial skill, record it. Not just the clean versionâthe
first version.
That video becomes a reference you can come back to weeks or months later without starting from scratch. Entries, exits, grip placement, body positionâitâs all there when your memory isnât. These early clips also tell a powerful story. Seeing how a move evolves over time builds confidence and reinforces that progress doesnât come from perfection, it comes from repetition.
Record From Different Angles (Your Lines Will Thank You)
One angle never tells the full story. Filming from multiple perspectives shows things you simply canât feel in your body while moving.
⨠Front angles show symmetry, timing, and facial tension
⨠Side angles reveal lines, extension, and stacked joints
⨠Low angles highlight shapes, leg lines, and overall presence
Switch it up. Sometimes the move you hated from the front looks stunning from the sideâand sometimes the opposite is true. Both are useful.
About Sharing: Keep It Intentional
Many people find it helpful to keep a separate pole-only or aerial-only Instagram or TikTok. It creates space to share progress without pressure and keeps training content away from people who donât need or want to see it. You can keep it private, limit followers, and treat it like a visual training journal rather than a performance stage.
If you do choose to post:
⨠Tag your instructors (
they love that shitâand it supports good coaching)
⨠Tag the studio that supports your training
⨠Always check that anyone visible in the video is okay being posted. Yes, even instructors. Yes, even friends.
Consent matters. Always. If someone doesnât want to be included, crop, blur, or keep the video for personal review only. Easy. Professional. No weirdness.
A Personal Note from Ann đ
I still have my very first pole video. Itâs awkward, slow, and wildly unpolishedâand Iâm so glad I recorded it. At the time, I remember thinking,
âIâll never look like the people I follow.â
Fast forward, and that video is one of my favorite reminders of how far consistency actually takes you.
Annâs first pole video: đ
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CoVpSscJ-_s
If I hadnât hit record back then, I wouldnât have proof of that growth. And on days when training feels hard or frustrating, going back and watching old footage is one of the fastest ways I remind myself that progress is realâeven when it feels invisible.
Final Thought
Pole and aerial are learned skills. If you didnât grow up in dance studios talking about pirouettes and barre exercises, thatâs okayâthis is still something you can master. Recording yourself turns guesswork into information, mistakes into feedback, and progress into something you can actually see.
Hit record. Future-you will be very glad you did đ

⨠Student Spotlight: Kelly C â¨
Kelly began her pole journey on March 3, 2025, after doing what sheâd been doing for yearsâperiodically Googling pole studios near her and hoping one would finally be accessible. When she found Spinning Sirens, it felt like the right moment. She was already deep into a serious weight loss journey that began in August 2024, having lost over 70 pounds, and was looking for something that would support that progress while also helping her feel sexier and more confident in her body. Pole had always been something she wanted to try, but distance had been a barrier in the past. Finding a studio closer to home made consistency possibleâand that changed everything.
Choosing a favorite class wasnât easy for Kelly because she genuinely loves the variety Spinning Sirens offers. Heels classes with Nicki, tricks classes and series with Ann and Nicki, and open pole for flying all top her list. She also enjoys mixing in drop-in classes with Kacie and Bree when she can, and sheâs very clear on one thing: the social events are the BEST. Right now, sheâs working on perfecting her airwalk and getting more comfortable with leg hangs. Her favorite tricks and shapes include Superman, Crescent Moon, and pretty much any sit variation. Her pole playlist reflects her edge, featuring songs like
I Mean It by G-Eazy,
Heavy Is The Crown by Linkin Park,
Simon Says by Pharoahe Monch, and basically any grunge track that hits just right.
Outside the studio, training has had a big impact on Kellyâs life. Sheâs gained confidence, feels proud of her body, andâunder the right lightingâcan even see some ab outlines for the first time ever. She loves having an active hobby she genuinely enjoys, especially since she self-identifies as a world-class butt sitter. Her advice to those just starting out is simple but powerful: love the process, because fulfillment comes from your own journey, not from comparing yourself to others.
When asked who has been the most supportive along the way, Kelly didnât hesitateâAnn. From the very first Intro to Pole class, Annâs energy hooked her immediately, and she credits Ann with building a warm, accepting community and assembling an instructor team that makes every class feel welcoming and supportive.
Her favorite apparatuses are pole and flying pole, and you can find her on Instagram at @Polearoid_
