The New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC) Presents Webinar from WestEd
The New England Literacy Resource Center and WestEd invite you to explore California’s Adult Education Pipeline Dashboard, a data tool that supports collaborative planning and allows providers to dig into their data, as an example of how collecting robust data can support program improvement and equity initiatives. On Thursday, January 27th at 2PM EST, Blaire Toso, Ph.D., Alexandra Lozanoff, and Alexandria Wright will use case studies to demonstrate strategies that move beyond NRS reporting to help address equity of service, identify program improvement topics, and support collaborative conversations with partners by parsing out your data and looking across data points.
Distance Education Strategy Session:
Digital Skills for Educators
On Friday, February 11th at 1PM EST, for our first lightning talk, we’re excited to have Ginette Chandler, Director of Professional Development Services of New Hampshire Adult Education, who will share the New Hampshire Digital Literacy Skills Assessment and Individualized Professional Development Plans. In the second lightning talk, Alison Asher Webber, the EdTech Center’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, and Jamie Harris, Digital Skills Senior Technical Advisor, will share relevant findings from the Digital Resilience in the American Workforce Project. Following the lightning talks, presenters will be available for informal small group discussion.

Weekly Tech Tip

Pronunciation Practice with Google Search
With Google’s built-in pronunciation feature, users can practice their speaking skills with their computers and mobile devices as well as receive feedback on how they can improve their pronunciation. Simply search for a word to be taken to a screen to hear the pronunciation at multiple speeds. This tool operates by using speech recognition technology and separating individual words into soundbites, then compares your pronunciation with the pronunciation it expects. It is currently available in English with plans to roll out more languages soon. It’s a great tool that students can use to assist with their independent learning!
