Innovation in Distance and Blended Learning

Don’t miss this report of the 2019 IDEAL Consortium Summer Institute. Each year adult education leaders from IDEAL Consortium member states convene at the Summer Institute to discuss challenges and innovation in distance and blended learning programming, policy, and professional development. They work together in workshops, facilitated discussion, and presentations to generate ideas that will help them build or enhance online learning opportunities for ABE learners in their states. XPrize Competition:
Congratulations toTeam WorldEd!

The EdTech Center is thrilled to announce that Team WorldEd has been named the Tier 1 Achievement Winner in the Barbara Bush Adult Literacy XPRIZE Communities Competition presented by Dollar General Literacy Foundation! Together with our partners, we got the free apps into the hands of over 3000 learners.

The EdTech Center will be leveraging the momentum of the competition in support of a broader Mobile Learning initiative; one that will provide open education resources and professional development to educators, practitioners and others in the field through an inclusive community of practice. Team WorldEd has invited the winners of the other tiers in the competition to join forces in advancing mobile learning for adults!

Building on its success in the Adult Literacy XPRIZE initiative, Learning Upgrade is launching the Learning Upgrade Challenge with the aim of reaching 1 million adult learners. Local providers who join a challenge will enroll low literate adults in the Learning Upgrade smartphone app, shown to improve literacy and math skills during the XPRIZE competition. Learners will complete engaging lessons while instructors track their progress. Providers, instructors, and learners will compete for rewards based on activity during each challenge semester.
