Events & Announcements

Just Launched:
The Readability Consortium Aims
to Improve Digital Reading
Launched yesterday, The Readability Consortium aims to make digital reading and reading comprehension more equitable for all people across the globe by investing in cognitive research, open-source tools, and user testing. The EdTech Center @ World Education is proud to partner with founding consortium members Adobe, Google, Readability Matters, and the University of Central Florida to explore how text personalization can improve readability of digital texts and enhance literacy for people of all ages and abilities. This past year, we supported pilot programs to implement Liquid Mode and will be working closely with the consortium on other collaborations.
Digital Literacy and the Employer’s Perspective

The next Distance Education Strategy Session will shed light on the employer’s perspective and highlight common goals between adult educators and employers. We will hear from Cambria and Tyson Foods, two employers that have leveraged EnGen to fuel their adult education partnerships. Cambria will describe the English program’s mission, origin story, and how challenges that arose during the pandemic led to an evolution in the program’s model that created opportunity for employees to develop their digital literacy skills in tandem with their English language skills. Tyson Foods will describe its current efforts to develop digital literacy to non/Limited-English speaking workers, including custom lessons developed by EnGen. Following the lightning talks, presenters will be available for informal small group discussions. Join us on March 11th at 1PM EST!
EdTech Center’s Guide to COABE 2022
The EdTech Center is excited to attend this year's COABE conference, which promises to be full of learning opportunities, meaningful networking, and rich conversations on technology integration and adult education. We've highlighted a collection of sessions that will be presented by our staff and will cover topics on edtech, digital literacy, and online learning. You can find more information about each session on the official schedule. And be sure to check back for updates and look for us at the conference!

Project Updates

DRAW EdTech Maker Space
Have you seen the Gap Map? As part of our Digital Resilience in the American Workforce (DRAW) project, participants have searched through the Digital Skills Library to identify important gaps in coverage and learner fit. They are working hard to fill those gaps and we invite anyone interested in sharing digital skills activities to use our submission form. Approved activities will be added to the Digital Skills Library which can be found in our EdTech Integration Strategy Toolkit. Help us reach our goal of 500 new activities!
