Join the EdTech Center today, Friday April 10th at 10:00 AM Pacific, 12:00 PM Central, 1:00 PM Eastern for our weekly Distance Learning Strategy Sessions.
Today's session will feature three lightning talks and breakout discussions on a virtual workplace ESOL training developed by National Immigration Forum (The Forum) with support from the EdTech Center. Jennie Murray from The Forum will talk about finding employer partners in this challenging time; Ana Negoescu from The Forum and Victoria Neff from the EdTech Center will share the process the project used for completely virtual on-boarding and orientation. Susan Gaer, EdTech Center Advisor, will share strategies for moving usual classroom instruction and activities to an online format. With video chat enabling virtual work and students and teachers learning (many, for the first time) to collaborate digitally, it is easy to focus on the ways technology is enabling a degree of normalcy in a time that is anything but normal.
As COVID-19 response measures force schools, libraries, and community centers to close and workplaces to shift off-site, changes in our analog habits have cut off a digital lifeline for millions of U.S. workers and families.
