Webinar:
Distance Education Strategy Sessions

Join the EdTech Center today, Friday April 17th at 10:00 AM Pacific, 12:00 PM Central, 1:00 PM Eastern for our weekly Distance Education Strategy Sessions.

We'll be featuring two lightning talks and breakout discussions addressing strategies for meeting with students at a distance. Jennifer Kleupmen, an Education Specialist with the Community Education and Training Department at Mercer County Community College in Trenton, NJ, will talk about her experience using Zoom to support synchronous meetings. Anthony Tassi from Literacy Partners will describe strategies for using their free ESL curriculum, We Speak NYC, as part of virtual learning circles.

Distance Learning for Career Coaches:
A Model for Our Time

The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) takes a creative, scalable, and timely approach to training career coaches. Read about the blended training program VCCS designed in partnership with World Education’s National College Transition Network (NCTN) and the EdTech Center. Four hundred career coaches have completed the VA Career Coach Certification to date.

New ISTE SkillRise blog post on Mindsets to Support Distance Education

In this ISTE blog post, authored by Joey Lehrman from Delgado Community College, you can find some useful tips for moving adult education programming online. The tips are based on Joey’s work setting up a free state-wide distance education in his home state of Louisiana and his current efforts to support learning during the pandemic.

NDIA’s Anglea Seiffert on digital exclusion and COVID 19

The National Digital Inclusion Alliance, our partner in the Digital US coalition, leads the US on advocacy for legislation and policies to counter the digital exclusion that serves as a barrier to social and economic well-being in the US. In this podcast, Seiffert describes how the pandemic has exacerbated this inequity by limited access to information and digital resources need to survive, work, or continue learning. She describes digital inclusion programs and resources that can mitigate the impact of this issue.
