Webinar:
Distance Education Strategy Sessions

Join the EdTech Center today, Friday, May 15th at 10:00 AM Pacific, 12:00 PM Central, 1:00 PM Eastern for our weekly Distance Education Strategy Sessions.

Today we will feature innovations to help states, programs, and teachers that are working to make it easier for teachers to create or curate their own developed curricula. First Jeff Goumas from CrowdED Learning will share a new tool—SkillBlox—designed to make it easy for instructors to quickly find free resources aligned to the College & Career Readiness Standards, as well as a current initiative supporting teacher collaboration in OER content curation and delivery to students. Then, Corina Avila and Kyle Boyson from the Arizona Department of Education will describe their state’s process for training and certifying teachers to assign proxy hours (using the teacher verification model) for online content they have created. A 30-minute discussion follows the presentations.

Cell-Ed Launches 1 Million Learner Challenge

In a recent mLearning Webinar on Onboarding, Jessica Rothenberg-Aalami announced an exciting new initiative: Cell-Ed’s 1 Million Learner Challenge. The 1 Million Learner Challenge aims to reach, teach and elevate 1 million learners by providing free access to several course offerings, including: ESOL, WorkReady, COVID-19, Civics & Citizenship, Math, and Reading. Take advantage of this mLearning opportunity that is offered from May 2020 - December 2020.

The EdTech Center’s Jen Vanek co-authored this new publication from New Readers Press with adult learning expert David Rosen. The guide is for teachers, tutors, and administrators who provide adult basic skills education and who wish to initiate or improve blended learning for their students. It includes strategies for implementing blended learning models and case studies to illustrate strategies in use. Many examples are drawn from IDEAL Consortium member states.
