World Education Supports Governors through
Workforce Innovation Network
As one of over twenty philanthropic supporters, subject matter experts, practitioners, and industry leaders, World Education has signed on as a supporter of the National Governors Association Workforce Innovation Network (NGA WIN) to assist Governors and state leaders in their workforce innovation efforts through future grants and technical assistance. Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Hawai'i, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, and Washington are among the first grant recipients focused on assisting in supporting the development of the skills job seekers need in order to get into the workforce.

Following newly acquired partnerships with Intel, Microsoft, and Western Governors University, NGA WIN will announce a second round of Workforce Innovation Fund grant-making later this year and continue to provide support to current grantees in partnership with new service providers. A future request for proposals will focus on ensuring that every adult has the digital skills they need to learn, work, and thrive in the modern economy.

Virtual @Microsoft Conversations
As technology's future takes shape, the United States must address infrastructure from broadband and digital skills to access to devices. Technology's benefits can be shared widely and digital equity promoted by both private innovation and public investment. Last Thursday during Reshaping America’s Digital Infrastructure for the 21st Century and Beyond, speakers presented a state-by-state review of efforts to close the digital opportunity gap through the newly launched State Digital Equity Scorecard. Check on your state's progress with this helpful tool developed by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, the National Skills Coalition, and Microsoft.
Action Steps for Programs and the Field
Addressing Racial Equity
In this webinar, Cynthia Peters (Editor of The Change Agent) and Carmine Stewart (President and CEO of Aspire Consulting and Educational Services and Vice President of Programming at Seeds of Literacy in Cleveland) offer various steps that programs and the field can take to move towards equity in adult education. We will explore how you can use orientation and other program-wide policies and practices, along with hiring and staffing policies, that help you address equity. We will also investigate how we can advocate for changes in our field that will help reduce racial inequity.
