Digital Instruction in Adult Foundational Skills Education: Its Promise and Future Convening

The Center on the Study of Adult Literacy (CSAL), the American Institutes for Research (AIR), World Education, Inc., Abt Associates, and panels of leaders in the area of adult education met in July to discuss approaches and challenges of using digital instruction with adult learners, with a focus on the methods and priorities for building knowledge and evidence in the field. The virtual event was hosted by Dr. Daphne Greenberg of CSAL and her colleagues Drs. Larry Condelli and Stephanie Cronen at AIR and featured panel discussions with innovative practitioners and facilitated by Dr. Jen Vanek of World Education, Inc. and Judith Alamprese of Abt Associates.

Jamie Harris Joins World Education |
|
|
Jamie Harris has joined World Education, Inc. as Digital Skills Senior Technical Advisor at the EdTech Center. She will work on national projects that draw on her strengths in digital literacy instruction, ESOL and adult education teaching and PD, and immigrant integration. Jamie comes to World Education from the Maryland Department of Labor Adult Instructional Services Team where she served as the Adult Education Program Specialist and supported Title II programs with Technology Integration. Jamie led the development of a Digital Literacy Framework for Adult Learners and a Digital Literacy Framework Instructor Implementation Guide as well as served adult learners as faculty and coordinator in multiple states and overseas. With edtech making it possible for disabled students to learn from home, it also prepares students for the future of work, where there will be a greater need for hybrid skills. |
