PROJECT UPDATES
Building A Culture of Inquiry: 21st Century Learning Ecosystem Opportunities (21CLEO) Project

It is with great enthusiasm that we kick off this new interactive blog with an initial post about the 21st Century Learning Ecosystem Opportunities Project. This research effort seeks to identify the constellation of factors that motivate and encourage frontline service workers to engage in workplace sponsored learning. We see this work as important because workplace learning has the potential to open opportunities for skills and knowledge development that not only supports success on the job but also reaches into daily life, particularly if it is learning that leads to strengthened capacity to engage with digital technologies. Stay tuned to the progress of this research by subscribing to our mailing list and reading our latest tech tip!

NEW ON TECH TIPS
Modernizing the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment to Better Close the Opportunity Gap

The Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment was one of the tools the ETC field tested with the support of Walmart and the Employment Technology Fund. The testing brought to light the ways that recent updates to Northstar assessment modules support use and engagement of adults with low-literacy and English language proficiency. Read on to learn about these key design considerations and affordances and "meet" a few learners who benefited from using the updated assessments.

Standing Out in the Crowd

The EdTech Center is pleased to announce the non-profit CrowdED Learning, and its founding Executive Director Jeff Goumas, as a new EdTech Partner. Formed in late 2017, CrowdED Learning is a response to the growing need for a wider range of high-quality, accessible learning resources for adult education. While there has been increased activity in the creation and sharing of free and open education resources (OER), their use within adult education remains incredibly low. CrowdED Learning is dedicated to solving this problem.
