Debra Hargrove Receives 2018 IDEAL Lifetime Achievement Award

|
The Director of Professional Development at the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning (TCALL) at Texas A&M University, Dr. Debra Hargrove has a long history of working with distance learning and educational technology integration. Debra earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University in 2000 and has helped hundreds of administrators, teachers, and tutors to meet their own goals of understanding and using technology in their classrooms and programs. Prior to joining Texas A&M in 2014, Debra worked over 20 years in Florida, the last 14 of which as the Director of Florida TechNet, a statewide distance learning projected providing technical assistance and support to AEL providers for incorporating educational technology.
In Debra’s current role at TCALL, she has continued to help teachers and administrators as they transitioned to a statewide online delivery system for on-demand, webinar, and face-to-face professional development opportunities. She started the annual Technology Integration and Distance Learning Symposium where hundreds of AEL and administrators can experience new educational technology together. Further, she brainstormed the microcredential system used for Texas AEL technology coaches and provided strong support for its development and implementation. Debra also continues to facilitate her own professional development workshops on topics such as media literacy and digital citizenship. With all of these state demands, she still finds time to contribute nationally through the EdTech Center, LINCS discussion boards and webinars, and presenting at COABE and other national and regional conferences on distance learning and technology integration topics.
Congratulations Deb!
