NEW ON TECH TIPS
Defining Employer Supported Learning Opportunities
As the 21CLEO research team combs through both prior research and initial data from their own work, we are coming to understand that there is no monolithic "learning opportunity" in work-based or employer supported learning. This most recent 21C LENS blog post offers categories that help provide nuance to our understanding of the opportunities available to front line service workers.
International Profiles on EdTech: The Ayedi Project
Our colleagues at the Bantwana Initative of World Education share highlights and learnings from a small actional research study aimed at piloting the integration of mobile technologies under the African Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (AYEDI), a four-year project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Setting the Stage for Successful Distance and Blended Learning Programs

Presenter: Jen Vanek

Would you like to expand access to learning opportunities or increase intensity for your learners through online learning? We can help you get started!  Establishing opportunities for distance and blended learning in adult education programs entails more than procuring an online curriculum and giving out login information.

This Tech ‘n Tell webinar, the first in a series of three on distance and blended learning, provides guidance for “setting the stage” to establish successful programs by introducing key definitions, orienting you to research-informed models, and illustrating the importance of taking an experimental (but incremental) approach to program development. The webinar will feature past research and first-hand experience from work done within the IDEAL Consortium.

PART ONE: in the three-part blog series on  IDEAL’s Distance and Blended Learning Handbook, addressing both administrative and instructional issues at the core of successful blended and distance education programming. The Handbook includes collective wisdom of past and current members in order to understand how to best leverage recent technological innovations for the benefit of adult education learners. The Handbook does this by presenting content in chapters that address important programmatic considerations.
PART TWO: in the three-part blog series, in this post we introduce the importance of developing strong recruitment, screening and orientation practices in your distance and blended learning programs. Look for our final post on instruction and assessment in the weeks to come.
What We're Reading Now

We are closely following the Digital Equity act, and encourage all of our readers to read up on the issue at hand!

"In the U.S., efforts to increase affordable access to the internet, devices and digital skills training are almost completely local...financial support of local digital inclusion work is sorely lacking.  The Digital Equity Act recognizes the value of local trusted institutions while allocating financial support.. ”
