World Education Statement on Immigration Ban

On Monday, March 6, 2017, President Trump signed a revised version of his executive order that bans immigrants from six predominantly Muslim nations. At World Education, we believe this ban hurts people and organizations.

Unlike any other country, this is a nation of immigrants. Immigration defines the past, present, and future of the United States. Immigrants’ contributions to U.S. society and their integration underlie the nation’s progress to date and its ability to thrive in the future. Immigrants and their children will account for 85% of the net growth in the U.S. workforce over the next 20 years. Immigrants are vital to our economy. Without them, economic growth in the United States and in dozens of other countries would come to a halt.

Are you looking for high-quality learning opportunities that can help you bring best practices and innovations to your classroom? Our spring e-learning courses are enrolling now and offer a rigorous environment with many opportunities for discussion and reflection, as well as the accommodations that busy professionals need in order to get the work done. Courses do not require you to be online at specific times, though there is a schedule with weekly deadlines to keep everyone together and moving forward.
If you’re new to online learning, taking a course can help you to see what it’s like from the student perspective, and give you the tools to help your students take advantage of online learning opportunities. Our facilitators offer extensive support to first time online learners, so give it a try!

The Basics: Courses are designed for adult education professionals and require either 12 or 24 hours to complete spread over 5-8 weeks. "When We Fight We Win" Issue of The Change Agent Now Available!
When we fight, what might we win? In this issue, writers share their stories of struggle and reflect on the large and small things they have won in the process. Maybe by fighting, they achieved their goal. Or maybe they didn’t achieve their goal yet, but by being in the fight, they’ve made friends, created community, used their voice, navigated a hard struggle, and discovered their power. What else might you win when you engage in the fight — whether it’s an internal battle or a struggle to create social and political change?

Get some tips and tricks for classroom use of our latest issue – a vibrant, full-color issue full of inspiring student writing. You’ll come away with many concrete ideas for College and Career Readiness-aligned teaching activities that involve reading comprehension, writing with evidence, research and presentation, and using real-world math. Perhaps most important: you will discover poignant and powerful writings (available in print and in audio) that engage students and help them see themselves as agents of change in their own lives and in the life of their community.
