Join World Education Staff at COABE 2018!

Are you going to be in Phoenix at the COABE conference next week?  Every year, our staff delivers engaging workshops across a range of topics.

This year we have 18 workshops being presented by staff members, and we are sponsoring two strands at the conference: "Transition" and “Digital Literacy & Technology"!

Don’t forget to stop by and visit us in the Exhibit Hall where you can listen to a student read her poem published in this month’s "Hair" issue of The Change Agent, create a Haiku, or even win a prize!  We’ll be at booth #210 and we can’t wait to see you there!

Webinar: Using the Hair Issue of The Change Agent in the Classroom

Friday, April 13, 2018 12-1pm EST

Please join us on Friday, April 13, 2018 at noon for a one-hour webinar on using the "Hair" issue of  The Change Agent in the classroom. The webinar is FREE, but you must register  here.

This webinar will give you an overview of the student writing in this issue, including: working in salons and barbershops, sweet (as well as painful) childhood memories of hair, hair in the context of disease and even war, and the issues that hair raises for women and men and people of all races and ethnicities.

We will also look specifically at the learning activities that accompany the articles to show how you can use this inspiring, engaging, sometimes funny, and always moving topic to teach the College and Career Readiness Standards -- ensuring your students will be excited by the content as well as moving forward with their academic and work goals.

New Online Course: Examining Social Issues in the Classroom with The Change Agent

In this 5-hour self-paced course, you will have the opportunity to consider the intersection of social justice and adult education and to identify concrete steps that you can take to implement classroom activities that will help students understand underlying social issues and how to advocate for themselves and their communities. This course is free, but participants need to have access to either an online or paper copy of  The Change Agent to complete activities.

LINCS Has A New Look!

The new look provides a more unified navigation experience across the  main LINCS website and the  LINCS Community. LINCS still functions as normal, but everything looks better! It is also much more mobile friendly. The LINCS Learning Portal will get an update later this year too, so check back for similar improvements.

We really hope you like it – so much that you’ll share it with your two closest colleagues!
